without further ado....
Am I the only person that tries to hand in their notice…as in actually DOES hand in their notice…but gets refused…I mean-what’s that all about?I may in fact be the best D Stores employee ever…my future is secure…!!
No but seriously that was my Monday-total madness…they said that I could work out my two weeks and that after that “we’ll see…”
I mean the woman(i.e. may manager) kept on saying things like, “But is there ANY time you could work for us…I mean ANY time??” and when I said weekends only and strictly and totally only still seemed quite happy…in fact she muttered something about “suiting my schedule”….my confusion knows no bounds..
So anyway that was unexpected but it appears I still have a job to come back to after Christmas-and if I don’t cos I point out to her how I’m disappearing totally for two weeks over the actual Christmas period..who cares?!!
Other than that I have discovered one of my callings…I…am a natural eater…! Oh no I knew that one already….mmm two dinners a day..!!But no III am a happy little interpreter!! No really! Last night was our (that being my vast class of 5..!)big debut as Irish to English interpreters – and it was kinda fun…despite the fact that the actual speakers got bottled water and we had to make do with stuff out of jugs(ok…I’ll admit that being as severely lower class as I am I kinda prefer tap water but let’s not let that interfere with a good gripe!!!!
No all in all it was a good expeeerience as our main lecturer guy kept saying to us… though obviously he said “beidh sé mar taithí iiiontach daoibh” cos he only speaks to us in Irish but as a translator I shall avow that my English version accurately reflected the meaning…! We had the headphones and everything and there was much talking and no coughing cos apparently that’s a bad thing to do, remotely coughing into people’s ears as you interpret for them..And lovely people came up and thanked us at the end….The sheer wondering amusement of it all…
What else what else? Oh I’v completely totally and utterly lost my house keys…no really…just as well I’m living with one of my best mates who only works across the road from the house or I’d be spending a lot of time standing outside in the cold and damp waiting for someone to get home…in fact I do that anyway but at least this way I have the option of walking across the road to get them…!!(anyone who chooses this moment to point out that more keys can be cut, should take a moment to reflect on their wisdom and realise that I KNOW that-I just don’t have time…no, I don’t have time to write this either but at this point German translations of Irish poetry are coming out my ears so I need a slight break…..!!)
College wise I am slowly dying a painful death! They gave us some lovely projects to do which I don’t have time to do anyway…and then added another one on top of that which is due in 2 days after the due date of another 2 and sigh and moan and etc. However! All shall be well as in a month’s time I’ll be finished my first semester and have the exams and all done and will be able to come home and sleep for a week or two-that genuinely being my current plan…. Anyone with any other suggestions please tell me in a moth’s time-I don’t think I could deal with the stress of anticipation…!
Okay so that’s it – will talk to you all next week =)
